Subhash Ghai to receive a special achievement award in recognition of his contribution to Indian Cinema at the Pune International Film Festival on 6th January

Whistling Woods International (WWI), Asia’s largest institute for Film, Television, Animation and Media Arts is extremely proud of the fact that its Chairman and Founder, Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, shall be receiving the ‘Special Achievement Award’ in recognition of setting up a world class film and multimedia institute in Mumbai along with his his remarkable career as a writer, director and producer who gave the industry some of the biggest blockbusters of all time.



WWI will also be reprising its role as curator of the student film competition, part of The Pune International Film Festival (PIFF), which is being held from January 6-13, 2011. The four-year long association is part of an enduring tradition, which continues to inspire budding film-makers from across the globe.

This year, 3 WWI films have been selected for screening. 'Der: Andher' and 'Punha' have been selected for the Short Fiction category, 'Der: Andher' has also been nominated for the Cinematography category. WWI in association with Sennheiser Worldwide have also introduced a special award for sound design, the ‘Sennheiser Young Indian Audiographer Award’. 'Jagjeet' - A WWI student film has been nominated for this coveted new category.

In Mr. Ghai’s continuous endurance to provide the best talent to the industry, Mukta Arts will be releasing a movie titled ‘Love Express’ in early 2011 with a team of WWI alumni, which marks the entry of some of the best untapped talent into the industry.

Mr. Ghai, says, “Whistling Woods International has left no stone unturned in creating a niche for itself and the results are for all to see. Our film-making graduates are the best in the industry and at par with international standards of film-making. This global acceptance has urged us to forge ahead with much vigour and we are absolutely ecstatic to take forward this relationship we share with PIFF to achieve yet another milestone."
